Cookie Policy

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember information about your visit, such as that you're signed in or that you've accepted a particular cookie banner. SORT IT also uses similar local storage technologies for the same purpose.
How SORT IT uses cookies
We group the cookies and storage we use into two categories.
Essential
Required for the Platform to work. These cannot be turned off.
- Authentication / session cookies — keep you signed in (NextAuth session, CSRF token).
- Consent preferences — remember whether you've accepted or rejected analytics cookies (
sortit:cookie-consentin local storage).
Analytics
Loaded only after you click Accept on the cookie banner. Help us understand how visitors use the Platform so we can improve it.
- Google Analytics (GA4) — anonymised usage statistics. IP addresses are anonymised before storage.
If you reject non-essential cookies, Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics tracking happens.
Third-party cookies
When you sign in with Google or LinkedIn, those providers may set their own cookies during the sign-in redirect. Those cookies are governed by Google's and LinkedIn's own privacy and cookie policies, not this one.
Managing your preferences
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clearing the sortit:cookie-consent entry from your browser's local storage for this site — the consent banner will then re-appear on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
Note: blocking essential cookies will sign you out and may prevent the Platform from working correctly.
